My precious..

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 26, 2008, 8:44 AM
Good day, photogs.

I finally broke down and bought myself a Canon 40D. It came yesterday and is absolutely beautiful! :) My first lens will arrive this coming week (Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L) with a small photo journey this coming weekend to test this baby out.

Krista's been having fun with her Nikon D200. Battle of the brands, I know. It's a love/hate thing. ;)

Stay tuned for photos!

You will enjoy both or at least I have. I have found that the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L works well with the Canon Extender 2x II (use a monopod or tripod)

Hey, thanks for the watch! Have you noticed any degradation in image quality with the 2x? I've heard to stick with the 1.4x. Any truth to that?

It’s true that there is some degradation of the image but if you have to enlarge the image the same is true. I haven’t really decided if the reduction in image quality is significant or not. The way that I see it is that it’s an inexpensive way to have 400mm at your command if you want it and if you would have otherwise missed the shot without it the converter is nice to have. This picture was taken with the converter and a 300mm Canon lens > [link] The other thing is that the converter tends to exacerbate any weakness in the lens that you are using it on so with a Canon L series lens there is less of a problem.
